Plastpol 2024

This May, together with our local distributor Wadim Plast, we participated in the 28th Plastpol in Kielce, Poland. The exhibition included 600 companies from over 30 countries, mainly from Europe, Asia and Middle East, for a total of 15 000 visitors. In line with the event's core themes of closed cycle recycling and future challenges of the plastic industry, Matsui organized the booth to display a functioning recycle line that could achieve a zero emission production, an aim showcased in our ground philosophy of factor4. We operated with PC-ABS and we managed to recycle 100% of each part for at least 10 cycles, without losing quality with regards to the parts´ appearance and technical properties. From our slow-speed granulator SMGL3 , the recycled material passed then through our decontamination items ARV and Magnet Stick, to remove any dust and foreign metal bodies that could cause later issues during molding.

Our MJ5-i, which uses a honeycomb rotor with a 10-year warranty, dryed the material and transferred it to our partner MSK's Repelletizer to ensure the recycled pellets achieved a more homogeneous and regular size. Thanks to our gravimetric blender JCGB, the material was then accurately dosed before entering the injection molding machine. In the injection molding process, we optimized the mold's output using conformal cooling techniques provided by our partner Contura MTC GmbH, and our mold ventilation solution items, namely MAG and Mold Breather. This ensured the removal of product quality defects caused by gases and excessive temperatures. As a result, the molded parts consistently maintained a shiny surface and optimal technical properties even after 10 recycling processes.

RESULTS

We achieved a non-stop running that lasted all the 5 days of the exhibition. We operated with PC-ABS, starting with 25 kg of virgin material and then continuously recycling it at 100%; in this way, throughout the entire trade show period, we completed around 10 cycles for a total of 1800 shots. Thanks to the Mold Breather pins, the injection pressure was reduced by 27%. By the end of the event, the molded parts in recycled material displayed a glossy surface that remained practically unchanged in comparison to those initially produced with virgin pellets, even the mechanical properties displayed very satisfactory values.
