Fakuma 2024 In the October of this year, Matsui was present at the Fakuma 2024 in Friedrichshafen, Germany. This edition counted over 1630 exhibitors, the 47.5% of which coming from outside Germany, and over 35 000 visitors. In cooperation with our German partner Contura MTC GmbH we structured our booth based on our concept of sustainable and efficient production. Already during the 2023 edition, we proved that sustainable molding can be achieved also in real life: our live demonstration functioned for 5 days with 100% recycled PC-ABS in a closed cycle and achieved important results in terms of efficiency, energy and material savings. If you wish to know more, you can read about it here. This year, even without an injection molding machine on our booth, we showcased the three main points at the basis of our production philosophy. Material handling Our low-speed granulator SMGL3 crushed the material to a regular size producing little dust; then the ARV and the Magic Catch removed any trace of dust and ferrous foreign bodies. The dehumidifying dryer MJ6-i dryed the material keeping a constant temperature saving energy. After this, the Static Eliminator removed the static energy from the pellets, before them being mixed and further cleaned through the APH. Finally, our Repelletizer transformed the regranulate into almost virgin-like pellets, through a process conducted below the material´s melting point. Mold ventilation The special ejector pin called Mold breather allows the gas to leave the mold when the material is injected, avoiding that it remains trapped in the machine and that it causes burns, damages and quality defects The ventilation can be improved by up to 80%, bringing positive effects on the injection and clamping forces and allowing to save energy. For an optimal ventilation demonstration, we equipped this tool with the vacuum device MAG: this compact and easy-to-use machine sucks out the gas, so that the ventilation can be much faster and efficient. Thermal balance The conformal cooling technique developed by our partner Contura MTC is an innovative method for the cooling of the mold and the optimization of the production process. The cycle time is notably reduced and the quality of the final product results improved. The ROI may vary depending on the material and the component complexity, but it counts for 11 months on average. The cycle time gets shortened by 30% of its original duration, and the carbon footprint undergoes a significant decrease. Check out in the photos below what Matsui can offer you!
